Every plant presented in Pangean “Plants Are Allies” infographics series is an entheogen; a plant or a substance that contains psychoactive compound or a group of compounds that induce alterations in perception, mood, consciousness, cognition, or behaviour to engender spiritual or personal development in a sacred or therapeutic context.
Natural entheogens have been our allies since ever, used everywhere around the world and honoured by the indigenous tribes, pagans, mystics and healers for thousands of years, some of them dating back to 2,500 BC.
The religious, shamanic and spiritual significance of entheogens is well established in both anthropological and modern contexts. Entheogens have traditionally been used to supplement many diverse practices geared towards achieving transcendence, including divination, meditation, yoga, sensory deprivation, asceticism, prayer, trance, rituals, chanting, healing songs, drumming, and ecstatic dance.
They have always been used to expand our view on reality and have contributed to the spiritual and collective growth. Above all, they were always seen as medicines. When administered responsibly and in a controlled environment they present literally no harm to a person but offer mental and physical healing.
This is the second part of Pangean educational infographic leaflets presenting various ceremonial and medicinal plants of the world in a neat and readable format and always promoting health and safety. Please share at will.
